The Psyc PEERS (Psychology students Promoting Equity, Empowerment, and Representation in Science) program supports students of color who are new psychology majors at SPU. The program provides the opportunity for psychology students of color to network, gain access to resources for classes, work on career development, and explore issues related to equity, empowerment, and representation in psychology.

Please help us continue to support our present and future Psyc PEERS with a gift today!

The comprehensive cost of this program is $650 per student.

What your donation supports:

  • $10 buys a coffee card to help a peer mentor meet with a student participant.
  • $50 pays for over three hours of tutoring.
  • $100 covers an honorarium for two speakers who are professionals of color.
  • $200 provides a stipend for one student participant in the program.
  • $500 provides a stipend for two student mentors for the whole year.
  • $650 funds all costs for one student participant to complete the program!

Students of color face issues that serve as barriers to their emotional, social, and academic flourishing. In addition, barriers contribute to lower graduation rates, less involvement in graduate school, and fewer careers in psychology.

The Psyc PEERS program focuses on reducing barriers and empowering students of color to succeed in psychology by providing effective peer mentoring, academic support, faculty advising, and learning opportunities with professionals of color in the field of psychology.
