The BioCORE Scholars program provides academic intervention and leadership training for underrepresented students in the biological sciences. Scholars attend weekly academic training sessions led by Learning Assistants, meet monthly with Peer Mentors to address challenges, attend quarterly meetings with community leaders of color, and engage in a weeklong research project with biology and chemistry faculty. As upperclassmen, scholars serve as Learning Assistants and Peer Mentors while helping coordinate the program to hone their leadership skills. This successful program strives for equity in STEM by developing academically prepared leaders to serve as agents of change.
The comprehensive cost of this program is $2,500 per student.
The BioCORE Scholars program is entering its sixth year, and the data shows strong improvements in student academic performance and retention.
The BioCORE Scholar experience opens pathways to medical, industrial, and graduate programs, where our graduates’ diverse voices serve as beacons and mentors for others who seek to join these communities. The program is core to Seattle Pacific’s Christ-centered mission of equity for all. Your gift will help ensure its continuation and growth.
Please join us in support of these students as they move through their college experience and into careers as leaders of change in our world.
